There are a few clever things about this title. However, you can all praise me about it later.
Castleford Tigers vs Leeds Rhinos. 3rd place vs 1st place in arguably, the game of the round, and what a big game it is.
Castleford Tigers are easily the team of the year so far. Forget Salford or St Helens, but Castleford Tigers have surprised the whole of the Super League this year and are definitely a team that deserve to be where they are. With 8 wins out of 11, it isn't just 'luck' as some people are describing it, but it's determination and lot of work from the whole team that's progressed them this far this season. Castleford Tigers will be looking to overcome their 1-point defeat against last-year's League Leaders on Sunday and will be looking to not just put up a good fight against on-form Leeds Rhinos, but they'll playing for the all-important 2 points. Although it's been a short-turnaround for the side, they will be more than prepared for this top clash.
Top of the Super League Leeds Rhinos won't be expecting an easy game against the Castleford Tigers, and would have been trained hard this week by coach McDermott. But, with players like McGuire, Hall, Moon and Hardaker, they will certainly be tough to handle. Zak Hardaker will be the biggest threat for Castleford tonight, as he will most-likely be going into this game with the most confidence he has ever had, as at the start of the week he was described by team-mate and rugby league star, Jamie Peacock, as a fullback who is "better than anyone down in the NRL." Now that's a statement he's going to have to live up to. No pressure, Zak.
Clash of the game-
Justin Carney vs Ryan Hall- Who else than these two wingers that have caused problems for every team they have played against so far this season. Justin "The Beast" Carney has a great combination of power, strength and speed and can surprise any defensive line. When he's at his full pace, there's no stopping him with the great fend-off he has. So far this season he's made 1362 metres, 6 clean-breaks and 48 tackle-busts, the most made by any player in the Super League so far this year, clearly indicating the power he has. Also, with 10 tries to his name so far this season, I can see him scoring a few more tonight. Ryan Hall is very much alike to Carney, as he also has strength, power and speed, which makes this contest so thrilling. Hall has great upper-body strength and is also a great reader of the game, and the combination of him and Moon on a wing is always incredible to watch for any Rugby League fan. Hall has impressed me in every game he has played so far this season, and most recently, he impressed me in Leeds' game against Wigan Warriors last Friday, as he caused havoc down the wings for the Warriors. With 46 tackle busts so far this season and 11 tries to his name, there's not a lot of difference between the two. I can't wait to see this one.
Prediction-
Castleford Tigers 28-35 Leeds Rhinos
